The home renovation is just about complete- with only a few minor things to be done and some defects to be amended. Other than that, its waiting for the rest of the furniture to arrive. For those fans of my rants, this blog will return to its regular programming of ranting at the MIWs and gahmen once its complete and I get settled in 🙂
A few shots of the toilet. I love how the frosted glass door allows natural light to flow through in the daytime.
A custom lightbox for drawing purposes.
A decal to camouflage the ghastly bomb shelter door which HDB has inflicted on all us unfortunate flat owners. An all-time stupid idea if there ever was once. If a bomb hits the building during war, I strongly doubt hiding in the bomb shelter will do any good as the building collapses all around you.
A nice cosy dinning corner-
And finally the kitchen-

It took me almost one month to finally decide on the interior design firm I wanted to go with. And so far, the time spent in research and consideration has been very well spent. The renovation has been smooth going so far with very little problems to deal with. The ID has also done her job to ensure everything is well taken care of. I’ve thankfully managed to avoid all the horror stories you keep hearing from people going through their renovation woes. I guess you get what you pay for.
View of the living and dinning room. Lighting and false ceiling near completion. I am keeping things simple and elegant. Easy on the eyes and easy on the maintenance. I hate clutter.
Another view of the master bedroom toilet. I am keeping this dark and cozy. A place to soak, relax and contemplate.
Walls hacked and plastered over between the former study room and master bedroom.

Here, I decided to hack down one of the walls to combine the master bedroom and study room into one. Bigger space to play with as well as one less door to buy.
I’ve also decided to install a bathtub into the master bedroom. My dream come true :P.
Basic run of the mill glass shower screen for the common bathroom however.

Towards the end of last year, I finally received the keys to my new place. So begins my adventure in home renovation.
The second day after receiving my keys- all nice and pristine- except for all the renovation, cabinet and mover brochures people keep stuffing through the door. There was also more than a few dodgy looking renovation contractors lurking around 🙂 Love the full height windows and views from the bedroom and living room.
However I am not too thrilled with the shit ugly grilles on the full height windows. Reminds me of a prison. HDB for some strange reasons likes to spoil things by picking the ugliest grilles, tiles and bathroom accessories. Do this people have no sense of asethetics whatsoever?
