it’s so very rich, when they announced how they would raise the salary of civil servants, and who are the biggest, fattest civil servants who will get the most pay rise? so that’s where the 7% GST is going. to help all them “poor” singaporeans who could be getting much better pay in the private sector.
Perhaps the elites think that Singapore is not ready for mature arguments about policies. Of course there is the cronism that is present at times but never admitted.
Let us admit that there is cronism and self-serving attitude at every level. However, Singaporeans have the great ability to sweep everything under the carpet (both pepertrator and victim alike) and present “a white-washed tombstone” to everyone.
One may complain the bipartisan nature of the American politics can infuriatingly slow everything to a grind but it at least allows people to form respectable lobbies of power, not an effective dictatorship or oligarchy. If Singapore has the Iraq problem like the US, what will be the response of the leaders and common people? Oh, that the common people will accept (with no quibble) that our security will be undermined without such a badly planned operation-turned-mess?
haha! we learnt it from the elites! (or maybe they learnt it from us)

2. How 2% more GST is going to help the poor but its not called welfare
