This will probably not appear in our mainstream media anytime soon, but I am glad to present something created by entirely by a group of dedicated local artists. Unfortunately I wasn’t part of the production team, but I feel very happy to see the results of their hard work and that singapore animation and CG productions doesn’t always have to be second class.
By no means are they on the level of Pixar or Dreamworks, but this is as good a CG series as you will find anywhere. Lest we forget, this is actually the first official 3D series from the studio, so I think we can only expect bigger and better things from here onwards. With proper time and support I don’t see why there is no reason they cannot be just as good. Everyone has to start somewhere someplace.
Although there is a fair mix of artists from all over the place, I would also like to point out the fact that a lot of the people involved in the production didn’t have formal art training and didn’t have the benefit of a 3 year education in a poly or art institute. Infact many of them actually switched professions after going through a short intense training programme conducted by the seniors in the studios.
Most people will never know the sweat and tears these guys have to go through to make this a reality. With little support but a lot of guts and self reliance, these guys have overcome a lot of obstacles to see this come to fruition. So this stands as a testament to what hard work, desire and a firm belief in your dreams can achieve.
All the best to them.
