Standing Up For Change.
Kudos to the malaysians.
Kudos to them for having the courage to stand up for change.
I guess they have had enough and the result of their desire for change could be seen in the results of the latest poll in which the ruling coalition (BN) loses several states over to the opposition. I can’t help but wonder if tomorrow was polling day for singaporeans, what kind of a result will we be seeing. Would singaporeans too, have the courage to stand up and say enough is enough?
Enough of this bullshit.
Remember our PM.
I guess you could be forgiven for forgetting all about the man since we’ve hardly heard a peep from him in the last couple of weeks- which incidentally is just about the length of time Mas Selamat has went missing. A limping terrorist leader who somehow managed to limp his way out of a supposedly secure detention facility. Jeeze, you would think after the pay hike, our dear PM might feel obligated to give the nation a satisfactory explanation- to start earning that 7 figure salary. Instead we’ve heard nary a peep from him. What happened to the man, who told us we need to give them a million dollar pay hike because they are the best in the land- the elite of the elites? What happened to the man who accused the opposition of going AWOL? The man who infamously alluded to how the opposition are like a bunch of monkeys who scatters after the tree has fallen.
Where is he now? AWOL?
Hey, we just gave you a couple of fucking million dolllars. Please fucking explain to me just how your very well paid minions allowed Mas Selamat to limp his way out of jail. Remember how James Gomez was grilled continously throughout the election period. Grilled over a minor incident at the election office. How come no one is grilling Wong Kan Seng? All we’ve had so far is some half-hearted apology and dribs and drabs of information. We’ve still yet to know how exactly Mas Selamat managed to escaped. Meanwhile a supposedly independent commission has been setuped to look into this sorry affair. An independent commission which incidentally includes a senior civil servant working under the Ministry of Home Affairs. A ministry which incidentally is headed by Wong Kan Seng.
We don’t even know if Mas Selamat is still in singapore. Who knows if he has limped his way out of singapore.
Sure, the government would like to assure us, there’s no fucking way, Mas will escape our shores. But not so long ago, didn’t Richard Yong just managed to do the same. Someone who was charged and convicted in court, but still managed to walk out of singapore- just like that. Maybe the custom officers were too busy looking out for James Gomez- who were stopped whne he tried to leave the country even though he wasn’t even formerly charged with committing a crime.
Since the last election we’ve had the Shincorp fiasco- which remains unaccounted for right up to this day. No one knows just exactly how much we’ve lost in the “investment.”
As if that weren’t enough, the government decided the GST needs to be increase to 7%. (Everyone please do yourself a favour and remember the GST was increased from 5 to 7%- which is a 40% increase, not a 2% increase as the media would like to protray.) The government explanation was that the increase is needed to fund programmes to help the poor- without which the national budget would run into serious deficits.
What happened next was that the GST did help to increase state coffers to the tune of almost 2 billion. Meanwhile what was supposed to be a deficit became a surplus of almost $7 billion. Of the almost 2 billion increase- only a fraction was actually spent to help the poor. Again no one came out to explain how such a drastic underestimation came about. Sure Tharman had to endure some heat, but a lot of people forgot, this came under the watch of our dear PM/ Finance Minister who holds a first class degree in Mathematics from Cambridge. You’d be forgiven for thinking this dude might be good with numbers.
Anyway the increase might at least be forgiven if it didn’t kickstart the spiralling inflation- an inflation which the government hasn’t said it has plans to deal with. Sure much of the inflation can be attributed to the worldwide increase in food and oil prices- but surely this has got nothing to do with education and healthcare, does it? And with the increase in oil prices, we also have to put up with increases in electric tarriffs. Only thing being, our electricity is generated by natural gas from Indonesia. The official explanation is that the prices of natural gas is pegged to oil prices. You’d think those million dollar genius scholars might like to ask why since the two seems to have little to do with each other.
Hell, if the prices of natural gas is pegged to oil, we might as well just generate our electricity using oil since there’s really no price advantages is using natural gas anyway.
Taxi woes, healthcare, overcrowding and the brain drain of talented singaporeans- none of which the government seems to have any good solutions for. Meanwhile today you have another minister saying how we need to do more to help intergrate foreigners so that they will stay.
FUCK.
How about doing more so that singaporeans will stay. If you can’t even keep your own people, how do you epxect to keep people who may not even have the intention to stay long term in the first place.
Change.
Malaysia is going for it. Singapore needs it. Enough with the bullshit.

Sadly, most Singaporeans don’t have the balls to vote against the govt. That, or they are really forgetful when the time comes….esp when some $$ is stuffed right in their faces.
Not sure if what happened in Malaysian GE 2008 will turn out to be beneficial.
But as for Mas Selamat’s escape – with all the known “facts” so far, I have half a mind to write a novel, fictional of course, about the “conspiracy theory” behind it.
After years of detention and pressure, the government finally managed to convince a detainee to turn on his former shadowy network.
For some reason, the powers-that-be, with a hint of involvement from an uncle named Sam, needed intel badly, though it is not clear whether it is for a PR coup, or to prevent an impending terrorist attack which promises to be devastating? (Anyone else read Frederick Forsythe’s The Afghan”)
So either Salamar, or someone made to look like him, was conveniently allowed to escape … which explained the real reason why he was not caught despite the massive effort sent out, why vital details came out late and the real reason why no reward was offered.
Now, if there is any inadvertent truth in the above, what I posted could jeopardise the escapee’s life …

This is for those who are totally sold into the idea that the Opposition wins during the recent Malaysian Elections were watersheds for democracy, consider:
(a) how the BN defeats could well be a simple case of “restructuring” UMMO internally;
(b) the votes of those from the BN who have done better during the 2008 elections as opposed to 2004;
(c) the voices of those who have grown in the media in the wake of the events; and
(d) the mixed reactions / reporting from the Malaysian media so far.
Clue 1: Even if Badawi does not resign for the failures in the GE, he will face enormous pressures during the UMMO elections later this year.
Clue 2: Do not provoke anyone who has had twenty years of stranglehold on power.
Lorne: “So either Salamar, or someone made to look like him, was conveniently allowed to escape … which explained the real reason why he was not caught despite the massive effort sent out, why vital details came out late and the real reason why no reward was offered.”
The real reason that he is not caught is staring right at our faces – WKS’s incompetence leading to the ineptness of the people under him and so on and so on.
Stop being an apologist for the incompetent leedership.
Clap, clap ,clap
Pay cut
Or at least flexible wage decides by the native citizens.
I guess thaqt why we can only attract class 3 Talents not the class 1 who choose to stay in London, Paris and America(Carnegie mellon?/caltech). Which coincide with the Missing sons and daugther of millionaires dad not to say they are class 1 talent.
MAS, I was not acting as an apologist on behalf of anyone. Read my words comments again – it is a satire, not a defence.
Think before you speak, okay?
My take on BN’s poor showing:
1. Leftover baggage from previous leadership.
2. Terminating pork barrel politics.
Personally, I feel Badawi has more integrity than his predecessor, so I hope this upset will allow him to cull deadwoods and undesirables from his party that should have been removed long ago, and form a fresh team with more honest and competent cadres.
He was too new during his first GE, and he should have done it after (but how to argue when those jokers got voted in in the GE?)
InsanePoly, just for your info.
Our surplus is not $7 billions as the mainstream media want you to believe. It is in fact, $10 billions from property + $7 billions from surplus = $17 billions and that is after deduction of additional $$$ for Temasek and GLC. I believe the $7 billions surplus could have easily top more than $15 billions. Do you recall government dare to give the actual figure ? They just play safe knowing that it will create greater commotion if actual figure announced. That is why the PAP will continue to fix opposition party and buy supporter’s vote because they do not want their account audit and find great disparity as late President Ong had found.
Watch to Sylia Lim’s 2008 budget speech from Youtube located onlinecitizen and you find her mention the $10 billions budget from property that the coffers did not even mention in the mainstream newspaper.
Wong Can’t Sing, is a sorry all you could give us?
Sorry also must explain. That’s what you TaliPAP clowns did to Gomez, remember?!
I dream for the day when everyone dare to do same thing as our neighbours. The day our country truly become a better place to live in.
well… why BN did poorly… you have to thank a few of his CLOWN ministers of BODOWI’s cabinet.
No.1 : The Minister of Education , HisapMyPuting ( Hisyamudin ) for waving his Keris during one of the UMNO General Assembly last year and chanting Bathing the Keris with Chinese Blood. And the MCA did not make a single protest about it.
No.2 : Semi Value ( Samy Vellu ), MIC president. For not defending the Indians even when a 100 Year old temple were demolished.
No.3 : Khairy Jamaluddin, Bodowi’s son in-law. Apparently he was the master mind behind all of his father in laws decision on handling most of the major events that happen last year. The Bersih Rally, Hindraf rally, arresting bloggers under the ISA act. Oh yeah also calling Mat Rempit as Mat Cemerlang . Bodowi once quoted saying he only listens to the young.
No.4 : Zam Zam Alakazam ( Zainuddin Maidin ), the village idiot (minister of information) made a fool of himself during an interview with aljazeera channel during the Bersih Rally. You can watch the interview here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wkTNH-ZLvSo
No.5 : NAZI Aziz ( Nazri Aziz ) minister of Law. Another village idiot racist for telling India to Mind their own business when India commented on the Hindraf Rally.
No.6 : Dr. Chua Soi Lek,( minister of health ) the Sex DVD. SHould I say more?.
We should sincerely thank them for giving the people of malaysia the courage to vote wisely!
