Playing The Complacency Game.
“In answering questions posed by The Straits Times, Mr Lee addressed the issue of complacency among citizens, saying: ‘Anyone who believes nothing can or will go wrong in Singapore is living in a make-believe world.’He said Singaporeans are being complacent when they believe that the Government will take care of all security matters.”

JI MAN MAS SELAMAT’S ESCAPE
Guards were negligent, says MM
His message: Those who think nothing can go wrong are being complacent
By Sue-Ann Chia & Goh Chin Lian
Guess what?Apparently its our fault Mas Salamat got away. He got away because we were all complacent. Its probably my dead grandmother’s fault too. I don’t know how, but somehow, the collective complacent attitude of the entire population of singapore were somehow able to endow Mas Salemat with some form of superhuman powers enabling him to make his escape.
Remember, according to our all wise, all knowing MM, its our fault.
O.U.R. F.A.U.L.T.
Not the government’s. And especially not Wong Kan Seng.
You know why its our fault and not Wong Kan Seng’s?
Allow me to elaborate on the MM’s point.
Its because we all believe in this make-believe world of ours that Wong Kan Seng will take care of all security matters when he is infact unable to. So the last election, Wong Kan Seng was able to win enough votes to return to power. Imagine if we had all voted him out instead. Perhaps than with another person in-charge, Mas Salemat might not have escape.
It really is our fault.
Is there someway we can all collectively resign from singapore in recognition of our part in the escape of Mas Salemat? Since its not Wong Kan Seng’s fault, he don’t have to resign in shame and humiliation. But because its our fault, I suppose in humble contrition, we should all offer our resignation from singapore as a sign of our sincerity and repentance.
I agree with the MM.
Let’s stop living in a make-believe world.
You and I should stop living in a make-believe world where we believe that with the PAP in power, nothing can or will go wrong with singapore. Remember and bear this in mind, always. Infact, recent events has shown that things can and will go wrong. Mas Salemat, Shincorp, UBS, the collapse of Nichol highway etc.
Also remember the words of the MM- don’t be complacent and believe that the Government will take care of all security matters. Infact allow me to go one step further and say- don’t believe that the Government will take care of all matters. Don’t even believe in the Government will take care of YOU.
Don’t be complacent.
The MM has said it.
The MIWs can and will fuck up.
So next election, when the MIWs will tell you how they have all the solutions to our problems and how they will take care of you, don’t be complacent.
Because if you do, when things go wrong, the MM will be here to remind you how its your fault and not theirs. Their job is to collect million dollar paychecks, give themselves regular pay increment and remind you how when things screws up, its always your fault.
I feel so ashamed I want to tender my resignation to singapore.

I can’t help but have to agree fully with You.
Nicely done!
thanks. great analysis. I will remember the day MM Lee tells us his PAP party is not in control! And we should not be complacent.
The PAP govt is now trying very hard to spin and control the fallout from the toilet break saga. The next few days i expect to see ST publishing letters from some pap grassroots or ghost writers in support of this new created-from-thin-air issue of “complacent citizens”. No doubt some unthinking citizens (about 66%) will fall for this distraction.
NATIONAL EDUCATION machinery at work now with full steam. Beware the huge spinning media channels doing their work. This spin requires the use of the words of our esteemed leader means only one thing.
They are in deep shit in terms of reputation, this is a high PR execrise. One thing for sure, the online recovery teams are already at work to counter the critisms of this “blame ourselves” strategy from the online bloggers.
But, then our esteemed leader is always good at stirring up things like this to distract from other more important issues.

This is the most rediculous reason that a person can give for failure. Accountability – my foot!
Haha …. I resigned long ago. Now, an austalian.
I used to be idealistic too and hoped for a Singapore without LKY.
Unfortunately, I am pushing 50 (and semi-retired) but that senile moron is still drawing government pay.
And PAP is still so cocksure they will win every election hence the leadership renewal issues. In Australia, the PM meets his reckoning
every 3 years. Even Howard can’t bribe us with more good years and election bonus.
When can singaporeans have that kind of guts?
