What Victory?
I supposed there are many in the blogosphere who feels a small sense of victory when they read about the official reprimand of the senior civil servant by Minister Teo Chee Hean over an article written by said senior civil servant celebrating his lavish lifestyle on the ST.
I don’t want to sound bitter, but really, what does it change? What did we win?
All it does is to make those same million dollar ministers and civil servants more discrete in the ways they splash their wealth around. It would also probably make the ST more hesitant to publicize any sort of behavior deemed likely to stir up feelings of ill will among the general populace.
At the end of the day, they will still go home to their million dollar homes, counting their fat paychecks, enjoying the kind of luxurious lifestyle that 80 percent of singaporeans can barely imagine.
It certainly hasn’t provoked any kind of self examination by our million dollar ministers over their million dollar paychecks.

Just like the prataman drawing $3.7 millions salary. Just keep his mouth shut and enjoy his perk and salary. See. Everyone forget about this useless and high-liability crap. And Yes, prataman has the last laugh, not the citizen.
Prataman:
Every gahmen should behave like me. Keeping low profile and just draw million salary. Be useless. Be dumb, be blur so as not to receive backlash from citizen. At the end of day, I can even go travel the world with 1 year of leave at expenses of taxmoney. You gahmen have to learn from me. So just shut the fuck up and enjoy your salary and perk. Just laugh at the lesser mortal behind the scene which is the wisest thing to do.
I think there is an impact.
When more hear of such incidents, more Singaporeans hopefully will become aware of this government’s excesses.
At present, many are still blur sotong about life generally. Most are like the lesser mortals that Charlie speaks about.
Anyway, for whatever it’s worth, let more angry ah pek know also good. If we can’t take them out by elections, the other way out is …
Perhaps, PAP must learn the hard way about who is boss. Burn a few of them and they will come running with their ball-less souls.
Mr Tan Yong Soon had written a book called “Living The Singapore Dream”

I guess being able to spend so much on french cooking class, he is indeed living the singapore dream
Notice that the foreword to Tan Yong Soon’s book is written by none other than Goh Chok Tong. Just as TT Durai was emboldened by Mrs Goh Chok Tong at his side in NKF, Tan Yong Soon must entertained illusions of grandeur with such patronage.
If there is a hollow sense of victory here, it is because the attacks were not directed at the actual intended targets in the first place.
[...] bloggers are celebrating over his official reprimand. But like I said- what victory? It changes virtually nothing- except that an innocent man was made a scapegoat. Is that something [...]
Can’t agree with you more. What did we achieve in the end? These people would just be more and more careful and shrewd in the future. And yes,the State’s Times would just simply not report on these kind of things.
